Product Benefits

The neurotransmitters dopamine, serotonin, GABA, and melatonin are all key neurotransmitters in the brain. Dopamine is known as the “feel-good” chemical, as it creates a sensation of pleasure and reward. Low levels of serotonin have been associated with anxiety and depression. GABA, or gamma-aminobutyric acid, helps regulate the overactivity of neurons when the body is exposed to stress. And melatonin helps aid the body’s sleep cycle while also lowering levels of cortisol, the stress hormone.  So together, these four chemicals have a powerful impact over depression, mood swings, anxiety and sleep disturbances.

Many drugs act, in particular, on the reuptake of serotonin in order to maintain a state of well-being or control. We have selected an extract of Griffonia particularly rich in 5-HTP, the direct precursor of serotonin.

In parallel, we added L-theanine, which helps reduce mental and physical stress, and promotes a relaxing effect on the brain. It also improves attention and promotes the production of GABA, as well as the concentration of serotonin and dopamine.

Other ingredients include magnesium, which is coupled to glycine for its muscle relaxant properties, and tyrosine, which acts as a precursor to dopamine.

Sweet orange extract acts as an anxiolytic, or anxiety reducer, and its administration has resulted in a decrease in salivary cortisol levels. Ashwagandha is included for its anxiolytic (anxiety-reducing) and anti-stress effect, measured by the Hamilton (HAM-A Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale), and DASS-21 (Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale -21) scales, resulting in a reduction in stress hormones (cortisol in particular).

Saffron acts as a natural antidepressant. Crocin (from the Crocus sativus (L.) is said to inhibit the reuptake of dopamine and norepinephrine, while safranal, the aromatic compound from the saffron herb, does the same to serotonin. By inhibiting reuptake, it ensures that the receptors get the amount they need.

Lemon balm is an anxiolytic sedative which acts on GABA-ergic receptors, inhibits the activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid transaminase (GABA-transaminase), and increases the level of GABA in the brain by inhibiting its catabolism. It also helps to act positively on nervousness, insomnia and anxiety.
